Abstract
Purpose:In a world where natural disasters frequently occur, it is critical to foster nurses who are
competent at times of disaster. The aim of this study is to examine the learning outcomes of practical
disaster nursing training using Emergo Train System, a simulation system designed for disaster team
training.
Subjects and Methods:Subjects were 38 fourth-year students of A university who had enrolled in the
disaster nursing practical training course. A self-administered questionnaire was conducted on the
degree of interest in disaster nursing, inter-organizational information communication, collaboration
and relief activities, triage process, visualization of disaster relief activities, and confidence in assuming
role behaviors.
Results:Participating in group disaster training and adopting the Emergo Train System in disaster
nursing training helped improve inter-organizational information communication, collaboration and
relief activities, triage process, visualization of disaster relief activities, and increased confidence in
assuming role behaviors.
Conclusion:In order to cultivate appropriate knowledge, technique and attitudes necessary for disaster
nursing, it is important to for actual experience to be included in basic education, to reflect and
conceptualize what was gained from such experience, and to leverage repeatedly the results of such
conceptualization in multiple situations.
